Baseball Over the Age of 50!

“Leagues that keep the game alive.”

——-

Each Baseball isn’t just for the young – it’s a lifelong passion.

Across the country, thousands of men (and a few women) over 50 are stepping up to the plate in organized baseball leagues designed specifically for older adults. These leagues provide not only a chance to stay physically active, but also an opportunity to relive the thrill of competition, foster camaraderie, and celebrate a shared love for the game.

Over-50 baseball leagues, often part of national organizations like the Men’s Senior Baseball League (MSBL) or the Roy Hobbs Baseball organization, offer structured play for athletes in their 50s, 60s, and even 70s and beyond. Games are typically played on weekends, and while the competition can be intense, the spirit of sportsmanship and mutual respect is central.

Players come from every background—former college athletes, weekend warriors, and those rediscovering the game after years away. I’ve personally played in these leagues for the past seven years, facing off against former NFL athletes, minor league pros, and even teams from as far away as Australia. All you need is a glove, a bat, and a genuine love for baseball—America’s pastime with a global reach.

Every October a World Series is held in Phoenix, Arizona which brings teams from around the United States and internationally to compete for a shot at a championship ring and the opportunity to play in Major League spring training stadiums.  Wives and family members often accompany players for this weeklong tournament and an opportunity to visit lovely Phoenix at a beautiful time of the year.

So, whether it’s the crack of the bat, the smell of the grass (and Bengay), or the high-fives after a close play, over-50 baseball leagues prove that age is just a number—and the love of the game never fades.
