“The genie is out of the bottle.”

——-

President Trump was in my hometown of Pittsburgh yesterday to attend an AI and energy conference held at Carnegie Mellon University. The event, organized in part by Senator Dave McCormick, brought together major players from the tech and energy sectors – including executives from Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Blackstone. The focus of the summit was clear: positioning Pennsylvania, and specifically Pittsburgh, as a leading force in America’s AI future while highlighting the region’s strategic importance in energy infrastructure.

During the conference, a sweeping $90 billion investment package was announced, with funding sourced entirely from the private sector. The initiative includes large-scale commitments from Google and Blackstone – each pledging $25 billion – as well as contributions from CoreWeave and other infrastructure-focused firms. Projects will target everything from AI data centers and power grids to natural gas development, with a strong emphasis on revitalizing local economies and job creation across Pennsylvania.

The Genie is out of the Bottle

AI isn’t going anywhere – because it’s no longer just hype, it’s becoming part of how the world actually runs. We’re already seeing it embedded in industries across the board, from healthcare and logistics to finance and national defense. It helps companies work smarter, governments respond faster, and individuals get more done with less. The technology is advancing quickly, and the infrastructure to support it is only getting stronger. Like the internet before it, AI is turning into a foundational tool—and those who learn to use it well will have a serious edge.
