An Outstanding Pinot Grigio Wine!
If you are a true wine lover, then not much is better than a nice pinot grigio on a warm day. Well, we were recently introduced to an outstanding – and I truly mean extraordinary – pinot while having a quiet dinner at a favorite local Italian restaurant.
Castelfeder may not sound Italian, but it is absolutely an Italian treat. Founded in 1970 by Alfons Giovanet, this family-owned and run vineyard produces one of the world’s best pinot grigio grapes thanks in no small part to the combination of their expertise and the exquisite Northern Italy location.
This style is most famous from the northern parts of Italy and traverses the foothills of the Alps nearly all the way from Italy through Austria and even Romania, Slovenia and Hungary. The mountains are a powerful force on the agriculture, insuring that the grapes keep their high acidity. The bad news, however, is that this is one of those “one offs” for us since you cannot have it delivered straight from Italy. You will have to find in on your own, but it is well worth the effort
