The Perfect Mint Julep!

Just in time for the Derby this weekend.

Mint Juleps are the official drink of the Kentucky Derby.  Since the 150th Run for the Roses is Saturday we thought you might enjoy this video via the link below which provides a great recipe.

If your old school and like it written out, here’s a a classic mint julep recipe which typically includes bourbon, fresh mint leaves, sugar, and crushed ice.

Try this recipe:

Ingredients:

• 2 oz bourbon
• 1/2 oz simple syrup (or to taste)
• 4-6 fresh mint leaves
• Crushed ice

Instructions:

1. Place mint leaves and simple syrup in a julep cup or glass.
2. Gently muddle the mint leaves to release their flavor.
3. Fill the cup with crushed ice.
4. Pour bourbon over the ice.
5. Stir well until the outside of the cup becomes frosty.
6. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.
7. Serve and enjoy your refreshing mint julep!
